Ruphus’ third album “Let Your Light Shine” marked a new direction for the Norwegian prog rock legends. Keyboard player Håkon Graf had done a stint with a jazz group called Moose Loose, and took inspiration from there back to the newly re-grouped Ruphus. Armed with new, refined jazz compositions, an excited band entered the studio with legendary Terje Rypdal as producer. This first foray into Jazz Rock territory was also the band’s entry ticket for the bigger European market. «Let Your Light Shine» was originally released on the German label Brain in 1976, and it got a lot of European airplay. When the band returned to Germany for a new tour that Fall, they were met with sold out venues and enthusiastic crowds. The band was based in Germany for quite some time afterwards, and released three more albums after this.
“Let Your Light Shine” is the third in a series of Ruphus re-issues from Karisma Records, remastered from the original masters by Jacob Holm-Lupo (White Willow, The Opium Cartel, etc). Recorded at Rosenborg studios December 1975.
